Stay Fit On Vacation With These Free Workouts

Are you making plans to pack your bags this summer? Travel season is about to begin and we know FitStars everywhere are looking forward to more leisurely vacation days. Recently, Trip Advisor published the Summer Vacation Value Report which suggests the top 10 US destinations for folks who are looking for the most fun without depleting their funds (we’re looking at you, Playa del Carmen!). A spokesperson for TripAdvisor also said that they expect 88% of the US population to take a vacation this summer, which is up  6% from last year. That’s A LOT of people on the move. Will you be one of them?

Taking a vacation is important for the mind and body – recharging and unwinding, seeing new spaces, changing perspective – all of these are components of a healthy lifestyle. Still, the logistics can be hard on you, and between carrying heavy luggage, squeezing into airplane seats and sitting for hours on a train or in a car, your body deserves a break. To help ease your body into (or out of) constant summer sightseeing, we recommend two fantastic Freestyle sessions designed with the traveler in mind.

With moves like alternating knee raises, goodmornings, standing pushups and reverse shoulder rolls, you won’t get too sweaty or feel sore afterwards, either. This 20-minute Freestyle session will help your muscles relax and boost your mood. Poses like standing straddles will release hamstrings and quads and pigeon chair will help you work on balance while relaxing your hip flexors. Scissor fold is great for stability and taut hamstrings and calves – this will feel amazing after sitting in a tight seat for hours! And like all good vacations, we want Standing Traveler to end on a high, so finish strong with warrior poses, dancer and standing backbend.
