How To Get Flexibly Fit: FitStar Yoga 101

Happy International Yoga Day! To celebrate, we’re offering a quick refresher course on FitStar Yoga. Ready to stretch? Read on for tips on how to maximize your time on the mat. If you want to get flexibly fit simply download the app to strike a pose.

Here at FitStar our aim is simple: make yoga accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone – wherever they are. We understand people can feel too intimidated to go to a studio, perhaps because of the financial commitments or because they are unfamiliar with the poses. We wanted to take away any fears and help all people realize that yoga can be done anytime, anywhere and that it will enhance their healthy lifestyle.

Whether you’re new to FitStar Yoga or a yogi who has been with us since the beginning, get the most from your  membership with these ten essential notes!

#1 – Yogis and Newbies Are Welcome
Do you think Down Dog is a command for canines? Or maybe you’re concerned that the only time you ever struck a pose was during Madonna’s Vogue era? Fret not; with a broad range of sessions that are appropriate for beginners or experts, and everyone in between, FitStar Yoga will help you move at your own pace. We will help you find your inner yogi, one pose at a time.

#2 – Perfect Balance and Poise with Basic or Premium
We believe a healthy life and fitness journey shouldn’t cost a fortune which is why we’ve worked hard to make FitStar affordable – if not free! FitStar Yoga Basic is completely free and you have access to one personalized session per week along with limited Freestyle sessions. FitStar Yoga Premium is the paid subscription of the app and your personal (and mobile!) yoga studio. You can either subscribe to a yearly or monthly pass. Premium also gives you ALL the sessions: do as many of our full-length, personalized sessions and Freestyle sessions as you want, whenever you want!

#3 – Get Flexible Wherever You’ll Fit
Get into Corpse pose (translation: lie on your back). Did you hit anything on the way down? No? Then you’ve got room for FitStar Yoga. Our sessions are designed so that even in tight hotel rooms, you can stretch out.

#4 – Personalize Your Personal Level of Fitness
FitStar Yoga sessions are designed to be an adaptive experience that changes according to the feedback you provide. Every time you complete a session, you’ll be prompted to provide feedback for a handful of the poses you completed. These poses are rated on a three part scale, where you can pick between Too Easy, Just Right, and Too Hard. Once you provide your feedback, your future sessions will be personalized to be better suited for your expertise and fitness levels.

#5 – Don’t Let Poses Pose a Problem
If a certain pose is a “no go” for your body, don’t sweat it! We’ve included an easy way to let us know when you can’t complete a pose. Just tap the button in the lower right corner when a pose pushes you past your edge, and we’ll automatically adjust your next session. It doesn’t pay to push yourself too hard, here. The aim is to work up to where you want to be, so be honest and let us help you hit your goals!

#6 – Customize Your Exercise
If you’re feeling a little under the weather or tight on time, but still want to work in your workout, Premium users can customize their sessions. This will allow you to lighten up the intensity or shorten (or lengthen) the duration of the workout to fit your schedule. Learn how to do that here.

#7 – Mix Up Your Moves
FitStar Yoga pulls from over 300 yoga poses to deliver personalized sessions that are appropriate for beginners or experts and everyone in between. If you need something a little different than your standard (albeit personalized) session, check out our FitStar Yoga Freestyle sessions. All of them can be accessed by Premium members and some are free for everyone – but each of them has a special theme and format to get your blood flowing and your body feeling bendy. For example, Before Bedtime is a 20-minute sequence that helps the body and mind relax, and The Flexible 15, is a 15-minute workout created to promote flexibility.

#8 – Move With Music
We believe music and fitness go hand in hand so we worked hard to make the music in FitStar Yoga match the moves, and we hope you’ll enjoy it. However, since we’re all about creating your personalized exercise experience, you can change the music to your liking. #9 – Stay Motivated by Making Connections
Do you have a Fitbit or are you a tracker extraordinaire with MyFitnessPal? Want to shout your exercise accomplishments from the virtual rooftop? FitStar Yoga can seamlessly sync to your other accounts to give you a really robust look at your health and fitness progress in realtime, and share your inspiring results with friends.
